Guide for BMW Doorlights

If one of your door lights is projecting upside down, you can fix it by removing the cover and rotating the lens.

Before you start

If you have two sets of door lights and both are showing the wrong way, first try swapping them:

  • Move the right light to the left side

  • Move the left light to the right side

That may solve the issue immediately.

This guide is for when only one single door light is rotated the wrong way.

What you need

  • A small flathead screwdriver

Step-by-step instructions

1. Remove the door light

Take the affected door light out so you can work on it safely.

2. Use a flathead screwdriver to open the cover

Place the screwdriver in the middle of the unit and gently pop the cover off.

3. Access the lens

Once the cover is removed, you’ll be able to see and handle the lens inside the light.

4. Rotate the lens manually

Turn the lens by hand until the image is correctly aligned.

5. Rotate it 180 degrees if needed

If the projection is completely upside down, rotate the lens 180 degrees.

6. Check the alignment

Use the guide lines on the lens to help line it up properly before closing the unit.

7. Reassemble the light

Place the lens back in position and clip the cover back into place.

8. Reinstall and test

Put the door light back in the car and check that the projection is now facing the correct way.
